  • Quality Audits – dictated by decisions at MRB / CAR’s / RCA
  • Random Surveillance Audits to ensure data integrity and non conformance sustainability
  • Ad-hoc product inspections to ensure that Quality Control (i.e. inspection) does what is expected.
  • Process and program inspections - these usually took the form of formal (AS9100 based) audits or supplementary (Random) Surveillance Audits.
  • Attending Material Review Board (MRB) meetings that are convened after a Rejection Note has been raised due to a detected non-conformance. I have revised the Rejection Note process and assisted with the review of the MRB procedure with the aim of speeding up that process
  • The MRB could decide that the product may be used "as is" or must be "repaired" (both of which generally require OEM-acceptance of a Concession request), or to "rework" or "scrap" the parts. As such QA was responsible for the control of non-conforming items (i.e. Quarantine Store), the raising and follow-up of Concessions and the eventual correct disposition of scrapped parts.
  • On realisation that the various corrective actions implemented by the facilities were not sustainable and that past mistakes often recurred, I assisted with the update of the RCA and CAR procedures and devised a "Lessons Learnt" concept. Also, I assisted with in-depth (technical) investigations for more serious non-conformances and customer complaints because those investigations generally uncovered significantly more problems than would become visible through a RCA.
  • QA was responsible for the control of non-conforming items (i.e. Quarantine Store), the raising and follow-up of Concessions and the eventual correct disposition of scrapped parts.

  • Quality Costing from MRP to Shipment of Product
  • Implementation of measures to monitor compliance
  • Partially responsible the quality services rendered by and/or manufactured products leaving the company in accordance with the vastly different production and quality requirements.
  • QA was responsible to ensure that "Special Processes" are OEM-certified and that relevant personnel have valid Certificates of Competency. This also includes facility readiness for NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defence Contractors Accreditation Program) audits.
  • QA was responsible for the issuing of Certificates of Conformance for outgoing products/Certificates of Compliance for services rendered.
  • QA had to teach/assist the engineers with Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEAs) and ensure that key characteristics have been defined by "Design" in order to co-ordinate the inspection efforts.
  • QA was responsible for developing program Quality Plans as well as various procedures. Those documents obviously form the basis for future audits. I assisted with the updates of some Quality Plans.
  • QA was responsible for customer liaison, hosting OEM representatives during OEM audits and also deals with customer complaints.
  • I was involved with some training courses, e.g. "Root Cause Analysis" and "Quality Awareness".
  • I assisted with the implementation of elementary "Statistical Process Control", which has immediately highlighted serious production problems.
