Reporting to Managing Director
Main purpose of job:
Control and manage import and export transport tracking and reporting processes, from collection through to delivery, in accordance with the client’s requirements. Developing key relationships with telematics system suppliers, security industry role players, hauliers, and clients. Development and implementation of key technologies and applications to streamline and improve tracking, compliance and security
Manage Control Room Staff:
Motivate and create a positive atmosphere for the staff to work and develop within
• Ensure staff adhere to tracking guidelines at all times
• Ensure that workloads and shifts are distributed evenly amongst staff
• Assist staff with issues where they might not have the necessary know how to provide the correct level of service (operational excellence)
• Ensure transfer of knowledge and skills to staff
• Ensure that staff follow tracking processes at all times
Review and maintain tracking and reporting processes:
Continuously review tracking and reporting processes to make sure that they allow efficiencies and security throughout the division
Research and develop key technologies:
In line with streamlining tracking processes, research new
technologies to enhance tracking and security
• Develop new solutions that may be specific to client needs or
enhance existing client solutions
• Establish technologies that improve the cost/benefit
relationship of tracking and security
Manage suppliers and buying conditions:
Together with Ops Manager and General Manager, nominate
and negotiate rates with suppliers to make sure that the buying conditions are in line with the current market conditions
• Manage the performance levels and risks of nominated
service providers
Operational IT assessment of new applications/solutions:
Using existing skill sets, review the operational effectiveness
of new solutions to benefit the company and clients
• Provide analysis of operational potential and benefits of new
applications and solutions developed or purchased by the
company
• Recommend best practices or potential uses for new and
existing technologies and applications in use by the business
Quality control and risk management:
Continuously look for improvements throughout the business
• Highlight any direct service failures and potential security
risks to the relevant Transport Supervisor/Manager
Develop and further security relationships throughout the SADC
region:
Establish and further develop relationships with key security
role players to produce a proactive approach to ensuring
cargo security, compliance and procedures
• Develop standards and requirements for security of cargo
and assets in transit
• Develop a database of trusted security suppliers and
response mechanisms throughout the SADC region
Status reports and customer services:
Ensure daily tracking reports are accurate and sent on time
• Ensure the highest level of customer service at all times and
attend to internal and external queries within 24 hours
Other responsibilities:

sharing information
• Ensure your work area and the office is kept neat and tidy at

• Continue to develop the transit risk solution across the SADC
region
