Role Overview
The Store Manager owns the day-to-day running and commercial performance of a large-format hardware and homeware store. This is a hands-on role—visible on the floor, close to the numbers, and accountable for results. You will drive sales, control costs, manage stock tightly, and lead a team that delivers a consistently strong customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Store Operations
Run efficient, clean, well-merchandised operations daily. Set the standard on the floor and ensure compliance with policies, safety, and local regulations. Continuously improve the customs experience.
2. Procurement & Supply Chain
Own sourcing, supplier relationships, and negotiations. Secure the right products at the right price and ensure reliable supply. Manage imports, logistics, and stock levels with discipline.
3. Sales Performance
Drive revenue through smart pricing, promotions, and product mix. Track sales trends, act quickly, and build relationships with contractors and bulk buyers.
4. Financial Control
Take accountability for P&L; performance. Control costs, manage budgets, and protect margins.
Maintain strong cash flow discipline and reduce shrinkage.
5. Team Leadership
Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing team. Set clear targets, coach regularly, and address
issues early. Build a culture of accountability and service.
6. Inventory & Warehouse
Maintain accurate stock control. Oversee receiving, storage, and dispatch. Run regular stock takes and ensure the warehouse supports fast, efficient trade.
7. Customer & Market Focus
Handle key customer relationships and resolve escalations. Stay close to competitor activity and
identify opportunities for growth.
