Purpose:

• On a daily basis, maintenance days and during shutdown, maintain electrical apparatus to ensure reliable and safe electrical supply to UJ and Business units Operations department, complying with S.H.E. and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responds to standby call outs as per set standards.
• Responds to the foreman requests and ensure requests are carried out as soon as possible.
• Checks visually for any faulty electrical apparatuses.
• Advise the foreman and seniors with regards to plant equipment improvement.
• Assists and get involved with plant upgrade projects.
• Implements maintenance schedules.
• Performs planned maintenance activities.
• Follow up on breakdowns or delays.
• Ensures preventive maintenance tasks are carried out as per schedule.
• Adhere to, and execute departmental administration systems
• Carryout instructions: diligently as given by management in related areas of responsibility
• Electrical maintenance, electrical design and electrical project work on LV and MV
• Upgrade outdated or discontinued electrical system
• Troubleshooting of electrical system LV and MV
• Making improvement suggestions and driving technology migration and upgrades.
• Carry out small and medium scale Electrical modifications in the plant
• Perform periodic plant and departmental inspection on the Electrical equipment as well as carryout assigned departmental safety inspection
• Be able to do MV cable joints and terminations
• Standby, overtime when required
• Switching and isolation of LV & MV switchgear

Qualification Required

• Grade 12.N4/N5/N6
• Trade Tested Electrician

Experience and Skills:

• Minimum 5 years’ working with high Voltage experience as a Electrician
•  Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
• Above average technical skills.
• Excellent Fault Finding.
• Ability to perform under pressure.
• Ability to work under no supervision.
• Physically fit and in a good medical condition for climbing stairs and ladders on daily basis.
• Must be able to work at heights on a daily basis / Confined spaces.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must be willing to work after hours and do standby and shifts.
• Receive training to perform isolation according to procedure.
• Fundamentals of electrical engineering.
• Fundamentals of electrical engineering LV AND MV circuits design, maintenance and analysis.
• Basic fundamentals of process instrumentation and control systems circuits.
• Industrial Electrical equipment in LV and MV design and integration.
• Design, analysis and interpretation of electrical drawing LV and MV.
• Interpret P&ID diagrams, MV line diagrams and related electrical drawing and manual and modify when necessary.
• Troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical equipment LV and MV using applicable drawings, manuals and diagrams.
