Oversee the project management of new plant comprising four production lines with a total capacity of 200 million litres in northern Luanda. Brought transport costs of moving containers from the port to our plant(at Bom Jesus) down by $500 per truck ? saving to company of $9 mil per annum.
Halved the cost of sugar transport by loading two containers per truck instead of only one ? a saving to the company of $2.7 mil per annum.
Instituted proper controls over the Port warehouse, in order to know the exact location of every container.
Introduction of a Tracking Report for all purchases orders so as to know where in the supply chain process each order is.
Introduction of Container Master File, a control system showing the exact location of each container and the aging thereof, so as to apply FIFO to the stock/containers and minimise the demurrage costs.
Negotiated 60 days free demurrage on ALL containers with ALL shipping lines.- the Industry average is only 7 days .On the company?s volumes of over 1500 containers per month, this translates to a saving per annum of approx. $16,2 Million
In addition to free demurrage of 60 days, also negotiated demurrage costs down to $10 per container per day. Industry is $25 - $50 per day.
After extensive negotiations convinced Bevcan/Nampak , our empty cans supplier from South Africa, to invest in a local plant to substitute empty can imports (company to be called Angolata )
