Manufacturing : Account Manager / General Manager From 2006-2 To Current Duties
Reports to Commercial Director
The Account Manager is the link between the customers and the organization with respect to products. The Account Manager is thus the strategist that drives and leads the sales in the organization. The Account Manager’s responsibilities entails amongst others, budgeting and forecasting, margin management, human capital management and project management.
People reporting to AM: 3 Sales Co-ordinators
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
Negotiate commercial and contract terms, to meet both client and company needs. Identify new businesses using especially Newtron IG (Germany based trading platform company) Manage about R800m of company’s R1.2bn annual sales turnover. Visit existing customer and potential customer in order to retain them and get new ones (I frequently visit Germany and USA as I have major customers there). Manage and interpret customer requirements - listening to clients and using astute questioning to understand, anticipate, exceed customer needs and provide value for their money. Ensure the delivery of new products from the projects is to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within the budget, in accordance with the project plan and project governance arrangements.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:
Maintain project financial reports Manage the margin reports Analyse interfaces and critical cost dependencies of the projects and recommend appropriate actions. Maintain the necessary controls to ensure that product development costs and manufacturing costs are competitive and operating expenses remain within budget parameters. Monitor budget and costs in all the phases of the project and products.
3. HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT:
Mentor, develop, train, coach and grow staff within the team environment to continually improve performance and service levels. Manage and develop staff within the team environment in accordance with the Company’s policies, procedures and I.R. Legislation. Ensure that all company disciplinary, grievance and HR/IR policies and procedures are applied in a fair, consistent and timeous manner to the subordinates.
Manufacturing : Project Engineer From 2005-3 To 2006-6 Duties
Reports to Engineering Manager
The Project Engineer is the key driver of projects from conceptual to commissioning. The Project Engineer drives and leads the high technology product development in the organization. The Project Engineer’s responsibilities entails amongst others, business development, budget management, quality management, asset management, human capital management and project management.
People reporting to PE: 3 Project Technicians
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
PROJECT MANAGEMENT: CONTROL, DELIVERY AND ALIGNMENT:
Manage product development and industrialization projects, including plan development, resource allocation and management, configuration management, change management, issue management, and risk management. Issue tenders to the best and qualified tenders based on price, quality, logistics and company’s tender requirements Coordinate and direct all technical aspects of projects in particular the delivery of the specifications, designs and associated site work activities from concept to commissioning. Facilitate communication between cross-disciplinary project teams. Evaluate progress on milestones and deviations from the project plans.
PRODUCT AND DESIGN MANAGEMENT:
Ensure that a product best satisfy company needs in terms of quality, price and delivery. Ensure that the cost of the products manufactured is maintained as per the correct profitability standards, through the management and control of material and human resources.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT:
Ensure that the systems and procedures contained in the company Quality Management System are implemented and adhered to. Conduct technical presentations and demonstrate how a product will meet client needs in terms of quality and specifications.
Consumer Products - FMCG : Plant Engineer From 2003-3 To 2005-8 Duties
Reports to Engineering Manager
The Plant Engineer is the driver of operation and maintenance of the company. The Plant Engineer drives and leads the operation and maintenance team in the organization. The Plant Engineer’s responsibilities entails amongst others, budget management, quality management, asset management, human capital management.
People reporting to PE: 3 Supervisors, 17 artisans.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
ASSET MANAGEMENT: PREVENTATIVE MAINTANANCE:
Maximise the efficiency of equipment through a planned maintenance system within the ambit of various legislation pertaining to SHE. Ensure best practices in quality, waste, risk control, safety and occupational health at all times.
SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENTAL (S.H.E):
Accept and carry out duties as delegated to in the O.H.S & E Act 85 Amended 1993 Section 16.2 Appointments. Institute a culture of Continuous Improvement with regard to the company’s Housekeeping and Innovation
Energy - Gas : Trainee Engineer From 2002-9 To 2003-4 Duties
Reports to Engineering Manager
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Exposed to design processes, plant operations, safety and environmental standards are maintained. Monitors the plant operational and production efficiencies, recommends and implements corrective actions to ensure World Class Manufacturing. Optimization of uptime and sustained availability through effective and efficient Planned Maintenance System and condition monitoring.
