Job Title: Ford Technician

Reports To: Service Manager / Shop Foreman

Position Overview:

The Ford Technician will perform diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on Ford vehicles. This role requires a solid understanding of Ford systems and components, a passion for quality vehicle care, and the ability to use advanced diagnostic equipment and tools. Technicians will work in a team environment to ensure customer satisfaction by providing high-quality service and repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle Diagnostics:

    • Use Ford-specific diagnostic tools and equipment (such as Ford IDS and FDRS) to identify issues in the vehicle's engine, transmission, braking, suspension, and electrical systems.

    • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems to determine the cause of malfunctions.

  • Repairs & Maintenance:

    • Perform a variety of vehicle repairs and maintenance services, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake services, engine repairs, transmission work, and more.

    • Replace or repair faulty parts with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Ford components.

    • Conduct performance tests and inspections on all vehicle systems.

  • Customer Service:

    • Communicate with service advisors to discuss repair recommendations and the status of ongoing work.

    • Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair processes and offering advice on vehicle maintenance in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Vehicle Inspections:

    • Inspect vehicles to identify issues that could lead to breakdowns or reduce performance.

    • Complete multi-point inspections and provide customers with an accurate and comprehensive report of their vehicle’s condition.

  • Teamwork & Collaboration:

    • Work as part of a team of technicians and service staff to ensure that all service jobs are completed promptly and correctly.

    • Assist more senior technicians with complex issues, when needed.

  • Documentation:

    • Keep accurate records of vehicle repairs, parts used, and hours worked for warranty and service purposes.

    • Follow proper protocols for documenting repair details in the dealership’s service management system.

  • Maintaining Cleanliness and Safety:

    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tools, equipment, and workstations.

    • Follow all safety guidelines to protect themselves, co-workers, and customers while performing repairs and maintenance.

  • Continuous Learning:

    • Participate in ongoing training programs to stay up-to-date with new Ford technologies and repair methods.

    • Attend manufacturer-specific training courses and obtain certifications to maintain expertise in Ford vehicles.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent (required).

    • Completion of an automotive training program or an equivalent certification, such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence).

    • At least 2-3 years of experience as an automotive technician, ideally working with Ford vehicles or within a dealership setting.

  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, electrical systems, braking systems, suspension, and exhaust.

    • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical and electrical issues.

    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

    • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.

  • Certifications:

    • Ford-specific certifications (such as Ford FACT certification) or willingness to obtain them.

    • ASE certifications (preferred but not required).
