Key Responsibilities
Fleet Management
- Oversee the company’s entire fleet (light and heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers, or buses, depending on operations).
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
- Monitor vehicle utilisation, fuel consumption, running costs, and overall performance.
- Ensure licensing, roadworthy tests, permits, and compliance documentation are kept up to date.
- Manage insurance claims, accident reports, and coordinate vehicle recovery when required.
Workshop Management
- Lead and supervise the workshop team: mechanics, technicians, and support staff.
- Control and optimise workshop operations, ensuring repairs and servicing are completed efficiently and to high standards.
- Maintain stock levels of parts, spares, and consumables, negotiating with suppliers for best pricing.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are adhered to in the workshop.
- Oversee diagnostic work, inspections, and quality assurance on all repairs.
Administration & Reporting
- Keep accurate and up-to-date maintenance records, job cards, and service histories.
- Prepare fleet performance reports (downtime, fuel usage, repair costs, etc.).
- Develop and manage workshop/fleet budgets, controlling expenditure and identifying cost-saving initiatives.
- Liaise with management, operations, and logistics teams to ensure fleet availability meets operational requirements
