Reporting to the Workshop Foreman
JOB FUNCTION:
Perform and supervise electrical tests incoming and final on LV AC motors
Supervise Test-Bay staff and ensure proper allocation of tasks and workflow
Diagnose faults in electrical motors
Enforce electrical safety procedures and proper use of tools and instruments
Maintain accurate test records, job cards, and quality-control reports
Prepare failure reports on causes of failure, corrective actions, and test outcomes for each unit
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Testing and Quality Verification:
Perform and oversee electrical tests on motors
Conduct detailed diagnostics to identify electrical faults
Ensure all testing procedures meet industry regulatory requirements and internal quality-control standards
Supervision and Team Management:
Supervise and coordinate Test-Bay technicians
Allocate tasks, oversee workflow, and ensure staff flow correct testing methods and safety protocols
Fault Diagnosis:
Diagnose electrical problems in motors based on test results
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain complete and accurate test records, job cards, and quality assurance documentation for every unit tested
Record defects, deviations, and corrective actions
Ensure traceability of all testing steps, measurements
Compliance, Safety and Standards:
Enforce electrical safety procedures and adherence to workplace regulations during testing operations
Ensure proper use and maintenance of testing instruments
Equipment and Test-Bay Management:
Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated, functional, and used correctly by staff
Oversee the cleanliness, organisation, and operational readiness of the test bay
Liaise with workshop management regarding equipment repairs, upgrades or procurement needs
Collaboration and Coordination:
Coordinate with winding, mechanical, machining and assembly departments to ensure efficient job flow through the repair process
Participate in root-cause analysis for recurring failures in rewound units.
