The Repairs & Returns Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and processing returned products, ensuring accurate technical evaluation and efficient management of returned inventory. This role supports product quality assurance, customer satisfaction, and compliance requirements.
The role also includes attending installation sites to inspect lighting fittings, identifying installation faults or product issues, and preparing professional technical reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
The Repairs & Returns Technician reports to the Procurement Manager.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Inspection and Repairs
- Inspect returned products and perform technical fault diagnosis
- Repair products where possible and determine root causes of failure
- Evaluate product failures and compile detailed technical reports
- Assist with technical evaluation of new products and compliance requirements
- Support certification and testing processes
2. Field Support, Site Inspection & Technical Reporting
- Attend installation sites when required
- Inspect lighting fittings, drivers, wiring, and related components
- Diagnose installation faults, product faults, and external issues
- Assess installation quality and compliance with specifications and electrical standards
- Identify incorrect installation practices affecting performance or safety
- Capture photographic evidence and maintain accurate inspection records
- Prepare clear, professional technical reports with findings and recommendations
- Provide reports to support technical decisions and warranty evaluations
- Complete call-out reports and maintain detailed documentation
- Engage professionally with clients, contractors, consultants, and electricians
- Support internal teams with technical insights and customer assistance
3. Returns and Inventory Management
- Manage and control returned stock inventory
- Ensure accurate logging, tracking, and processing of returns
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, failures, and returned items
- Continuously improve returns and repair processes for efficiency and accuracy
4. Operational and Administrative Duties
- Ensure efficient daily operations within the repairs and returns function
- Liaise with procurement, warehouse, technical, and sales teams
- Respond to customer queries and attend technical meetings
- Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports
- Adhere to company procedures, service level agreements, and compliance standards
- Perform additional duties and projects as required
