Reports to:

  • Sales Director

Purpose:

  • To drive increased sales through new business development and building strong customer relations

Key Areas of Responsibility:

General Description:

  • The External Sales Representative will be responsible for managing existing customers, acquiring new ones, and fostering strong relationships by providing technical support, addressing complaints, and resolving warranty claims

GP Target and Budgeted Figures

  • Achieve gross profit margins of 27% and PBIT of 10% against the previous year.
  • Submit weekly market analysis reports, including competitor activity and feedback.

Grow Market Share with Current Customers

  • Grow Deltec market share by 20%.
  • Increase overall sales by 20%.
  • Expand automotive sales by 20%.
  • Strengthen presence in the renewable energy sector.

Reduction of Branch Warranty Claims

  • Ensure warranty claims are minimized.
  • Ensure claims adjudication is concluded within 48 hours of receipt.

Reporting

  • Maintain weekly 4DX reporting.
  • Maintain weekly call reports.
  • Maintain weekly call plans.
  • Report on customer visits as per the allocated customer list.

Customer Relations

  • Optimise relationships between customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain visibility on customer credit limits.
  • Provide product training to customers.
  • Visit customers as per the call cycle.
  • Maintain debtor days below 45 days by taking ownership of assigned accounts.

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate/ Equivalent qualification
  • Electrical Engineering/ Auto-electrical qualification would be an advantage
  • At least 4 years of experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of the battery and renewable energy sectors
  • Knowledge of the automotive replacement parts market
  • Proven track record of success in achieving sales targets, driving revenue growth, and expanding market share
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscape
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence sales
  • Proficiency in CRM software, sales analytics tools, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients, attend industry events, and support sales initiatives
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction and building long-term relationships with key accounts

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of the mining and automotive industries, including market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscape
  • CRM System, sales analytics tools, and Microsoft Office & PowerPoint.
